New bicycle regulations came into effect in the state of Florida on July 1! .

All cyclists and passengers under the age of 16 are required by Florida law to to wear a helmet. Always wear a properly fitted helmet and fasten the strap securely.
Cyclists may only ride two abreast on a cycle path if it is wide enough to accommodate both cyclists and if it is clearly marked with markers on the roadway and signs indicating that it is a track. cycling.
Two-way traffic is also authorized if the cycle path is separated from traffic by a physical barrier. Otherwise, all cyclists should now ride in single file and as close as possible to the curb or edge of the roadway to give passing traffic a minimum of three feet to pass.
Cyclists may only ride more than two abreast if they are riding on a designated cycle lane.
Motorists should ensure at least three feet of space when passing cyclists and keep a safe distance behind cyclists until they can pass them. Also new, motorists wanting to make a right turn must be at least 20 feet past the cyclists before making this turn.
When groups of cyclists are at a stop sign, cyclists must come to a complete stop. Motorized vehicles must allow a group of ten cyclists to cross the intersection before proceeding.
