As regular readers of the blog will know, Jeremy Vine’s video updates of his London two-wheeler ride are scientifically proven to have the ability to wind up all anti-cycling motorists, “why don’t they pay the road tax” who have the misfortune to type the name of the broadcaster into the Twitter search function and display them.

Last night’s episode was slightly different though, as it didn’t feature a close pass, speeding motorist or even a taxi driver throwing a glass bottle at a guy on a bike.

I got passed by someone on a wheel tonight.
I couldn’t complain – turns out he’s watching@JeremyVineOn5. pic.twitter.com/xkNkmZsWnH

Instead, Vine devoted 51 seconds of social media coverage to something a little lighter: a young man who loves prancing. The trickster – who seems keen to avoid wearing out his front tire – even knew who the presenter was, sort of…

“You are ITV3, aren’t you? »

“Yes, Channel 5…”

Close enough.

Despite this slight relief, Vine still managed to be the butt of classic automotive wrath:

Clearly a violation of Article 28 RTA (dangerous cycling), but apparently it’s OK because he’s watching you on TV?

If it was a motorcycle, I’m sure you’d point it out.

I totally agree with you calling out unsafe motorists, but isn’t that bad too?

No helmet. (Apart from the one who rides a bike)
Dangerous use of the road.
Driving in a manner likely to cause an accident.
Driving without care or attention.

Would you have been so happy if it was a biker?

Anywhere on the road
Switch to another aid. It looks like your only viewer won’t be around for very long with behavior like this

Seriously, is riding like that something you approve of?

Hardly something to be proud of, @theJeremyVine ,this guy shows an appalling disregard for the safety of other road users. He doesn’t need to be insured etc yet he could create carnage!

Then you wonder why people get mad at cyclists

— PT (@geepee71) April 11, 2022

Yes, because we all shoot everywhere, of course. Let’s put that on the cycle bingo list with road tax, helmets, thinking we own the road…
