Pune: After two months of the tragic accident that claimed the life of a 12-year-old boy who lost control of his bicycle due to the steep slope of the road and hit a barricade and fell into a nullah, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has started constructing a retaining wall at the crash site near Dattanagar chowk road which leads to Ambegaon Budruk.
The incident happened on November 3, 2021 when the boy died from serious head injuries from the fall.
The deceased was identified as Yug Jignesh Vadsola of Astonia Royale residential housing company in Ambegaon Budruk. Yug and his friend were returning home from cycling when he lost control of his bike and fell into the nullah around 6am.
Residents were concerned about the steep incline of the road at the crash site and reported incidents of two-wheelers hitting the barricade on the small bridge above the nullah after losing control of their vehicles.
“We started barricading the place with a cement wall on the side of the nullah where the accident took place. The wall will prevent residents from falling into the nullah even if the problem of the steep slope of the road cannot be solved immediately,” a senior engineer from PMC said on condition of anonymity.
Residents are asking for more security measures than a retaining wall. Resident Kiran Jadhav said, “Building the retaining wall is not enough, there should be more speed bumps, traffic signs and rumblers on this road to check the speed of vehicles. There are several accidents that occur on this slope.
