LD 821 pass for pedestrian safety

August 17, 2020 is the date I almost died. I was hit by a car while on my bike, after which I spent 10 days in the hospital. My ribs were broken, my lungs had collapsed, and my shoulder had been moved. The person who hit me said he was distracted. This incident had a very negative effect on my life.
While I appreciate that the driver pulled over and his insurance was helpful, I was surprised to find that the incident had not been investigated or treated as a crime. Such incidents should be investigated, as provided for in Bill LD 821.
This bill should be passed by the legislature. LD 821 would help protect vulnerable people on the road, such as cyclists, wheelchair users and pedestrians. Please let your legislators know that you want them to adopt LD 821. This bill is sponsored by the Bicycle Coalition and supported by the AARP.
