Goodyear to supply bike tires to World Tour Team Qhubeka ASSOS racing team
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Goodyear has signed a multi-year agreement to supply tires to a South African professional cycling team competing in the World Tour of Professional Cycling, the highest level of men’s road cycling in the world.
The agreement with Qhubek teaman ASSOS came into effect from the start of the 2021 professional cycling program, which started on February 3.
Goodyear bicycle tires are distributed under a license agreement with Rubber kinetics LLC of Carson, California.
This is Goodyear’s first season in professional World Tour cycling. The company will supply tires from its ultra high performance lineup – which includes the Eagle F1, Eagle F1 SuperSport and Vector 4Seasons – for most events, including road races and time trials.
“We are really delighted to have such a well established global business partner with our team,” said Douglas Ryder, Team Director of Team Qhubeka ASSOS.
“Goodyear has transported people safely for over 100 years. Consistency, safety, trust and high performance are really important to them – as they are to us – and in the tests that we do and have done together we are extremely happy with the results, ”said Ryder. “We can’t wait to challenge ourselves and compete at the highest levels of world cycling.”
Goodyear also supplies racing tires to the Team Qhubeka ASSOS cycling development team. The company will also work with riders, athletic directors, mechanics and other team personnel to develop the most technologically advanced bicycle tires.
