cycling star Daniel Oss is out of the Tour de France… after the Italian fractured his neck in a senseless high-speed crash with a fan during Wednesday’s race.
Oss team Total Energies made the announcement on Thursday, the day after the 35-year-old crashed into a spectator at the edge of a running track.
The collision was captured on video… and you can see Oss – in a white helmet and racing gear – flying off the side of the cobbled lane before colliding hard with the spectator who was trying to record the race on his telephone. .
Oss made it across the finish line but medicals found he had broken his neck…leaving him out for the rest of the tour.
“Further tests revealed a fractured cervical vertebra,” Oss’s team said, adding that he will now have to be immobilized for “a few weeks.”
“The whole team wishes you a good recovery Daniel.”

another biker, Michael Gogl, was also injured in the accident – and suffered a fractured collarbone and pelvis/pelvic bone. He too was forced to withdraw from the race.
Of course, this is far from the first time fans have crashed into riders on the Tour…just last year a fan hit a biker with his cardboard sign during the race, causing a massive pileup.
