Aprilia Electrica is a fun and economical electric bike concept
The automotive industry is not the only part of the transport sector to move towards electric vehicles. Motorcycle companies are also moving in this direction. Some are a bit more advanced than others, like Harley-Davidson with its LiveWire brand. But others are laying out their plans, like Honda and Can-Am, among others. The Italian brand Aprilia has just joined them with its idea of a future electric motorcycle called “ELECTRICa”, which we will now call Electrica.
In classic concept fashion, specs are slim to none. But Aprilia noted that the Electrica is designed to be a very accessible and fun motorcycle for people on a budget and who may be new to cycling. It is apparently quite small and is meant to be lightweight. Being an e-bike, it doesn’t have multiple gears to shift, allowing for front and rear brake controls on the handlebars with the aim of making the transition from a bike or scooter to this bike easier. . The low seat and somewhat upright riding position should also be quite comfortable and easy to adjust for new riders.
The design really pops with its teal accents. It’s a neat, angular bike. Aprilia also notes its triple headlight cluster as its other offerings.
Unfortunately, Aprilia has given no information on when we might see a bike like the Electrica on sale. It seems pretty down-to-earth as far as concepts go, so hopefully a production variant might be near. Either way, the electric motorcycle market is expected to get quite interesting in the next few years.
